Why evaluate? Who benefits? How to evaluate? And when? These are the core questions our absolutely awesome Assistant Division Governors Rob and Mark raised and which members of the U-CAN-SPEAK Club along with four enthusiastic guests found compelling answers to.

Wet Weather Outside – Dry Humour Inside

Despite seeing ducks waddling looking shelter from the rain Toastmasters must go on! 14 Hardie souls, displayed copious amounts of droll humour throughout the evening. In honour of the end of the university year, a quote from Ruby Wax a well-known American comedian in Britain (an oxymoron if I ever heard one!), College athletes used to get a degree in bringing your pencil. I will not be so unkind to substitute athletes for engineers.

U-CAN-SPEAK Toastmaster of the Year & Other Bits

Is there a Toastmaster in our club that you think has made a great contribution over the preceding year? Nominate them for our Toastmaster of the Year! Please email your nomination to Dwayne, no later than August 29th or anonymously vote for them at next week’s meeting. A sentence or two as to why you believe they should be nominated as the Toastmaster of the Year would also be appreciated.

Food Forests, Making Money and Movies

We had a number of highlights this evening.

Timm gave the 3rd Speech from the Competent Communication Manual, entitled – Three Steps to turn boring backyard beds into flourishing food forests! What a mouthful! For our stomachs, easy on the wallets and a great way of getting fit and giving back to the community. Timm, gave us three tips on how to utilise our backyard to make the best use of the traditional kiwi vege patch. In addition Timm mentioned clubs and initiatives for community based gardens.
