You are looking at the best Toastmasters club website in New Zealand! It was my greatest pleasure to accept the Dale Hartle Award for this blog on our club’s behalf at the district convention in Auckland. However, this is not a personal award. It is the joint achievement of us club members, who posted meeting highlights, who contributed testimonials and who represent our great diversity and our club’s unique character on our photos. Not to forget about our past member Greg (now in California), who came up with the initial idea to start this blog!
Welcome to the New Zealand Convention!
Hiding under the table cloth for the entire duration of the AGM is not how Tony’s service dog wants to spend its time.
Unlike humans, dogs feel no shame at all showing what they think of an AGM
As a showcase of the incredible learning opportunities we offer, our blog is very successful, indeed: although our target group is very limited, we already attract on average 30-40 clicks per day, receive about 2 online enquiries per week and welcome guests at every meeting, both Mondays and Thursdays! It has come to my attention that even some of our members’ friends and family members follow us. For all you curious mums of U-CAN-SPEAK members: Happy Mother’s Day!
Seven Competent Communicators, three Competent Leaders, one Advanced Communicator Bronze and one Advanced Leader Bronze: that is the impressive list of awards from Toastmasters International that our members have already achieved during the past seven months of this Toastmasters year. There are around 30 Toastmasters Clubs in Christchurch and over 250 in New Zealand. With the proud record of twelve educational achievements so far, U-CAN-SPEAK is the uncontested club number one on the list. This result can be seen as further proof of the great motivation of our members, the supportive learning environment and the vast educational opportunities that the club has to offer. And even more is yet to come!
This was the theme of the Toastmasters New Zealand Spring Convention this weekend. Ingenious speakers, high quality educationals and 300 Toastmasters from all of New Zealand – this is what makes district conventions always an invaluable experience.
Toastmasters New Zealand Convention (District 72), Christchurch, Château on the Park. If you weren’t there, this is what you’ve missed out on:
We watched New Zealand’s top speakers compete in the Evaluation and International Speech Contests, we met the Lianne Dalziel, the new mayor of Christchurch, we elected the District officers for the next Toastmasters year and we will bring new ideas to the club that we gained from networking with other Toastmasters from all over New Zealand, from communication and leadership workshops. Find out more during tomorrow’s meeting!
