U-CAN-SPEAK @ Avonhead has been chartered!

World Headquarters have just confirmed that U-CAN-SPEAK @ Avonhead is now an official Toastmasters club! The new club is registered with Toastmasters International effective from the 21. June 2015 and with club number 3234456.

U-CAN-SPEAK @ Avonhead is a joint venture of the U-CAN-SPEAK Club and Avonhead Toastmasters. The club meets weekly on Tuesdays starting at 6pm and will soon move to Dovedale Village at the College of Education. A double HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

The 1st of June 1995 is the date that marks the charter of the University of Canterbury Toastmasters Club, which was later re-branded as the U-CAN-SPEAK Club. Exactly 20 years and one day later, on 2 June 2015, the foundations for the second Toastmasters Club at the University of Canterbury were laid. Today, Avonhead Toastmasters agreed to the constitution and conditions for chartering another club together with U-CAN-SPEAK. The new club is officially called U-CAN-SPEAK @ Avonhead.

Thursday Club to negotiate partnership with Avonhead Toastmasters

This coming Tuesday, a delegation from U-CAN-SPEAK will visit the Avonhead Toastmasters club to start negotiations regarding a joint club.

Avonhead Toastmasters are a club in formation with currently six members, as well as a few dual members and helpers. Being a club that has not chartered yet, the six members are neither eligible for educational awards, nor can they compete, participate in District events or receive the Toastmaster magazine.
