Congratulations to Dwayne and Timm! At the Area Contest for G6, which includes us and five more Toastmasters clubs from around Christchurch, both of our club’s representatives convinced the judges with their outstanding performances. Here are the results!!!
With his motivational speech on resolutions, Dwayne placed second out of all contestants. Considering the frequent laughter in the audience, it was with no doubt the most humourous speech of the night!
Timm had to give feedback to a speaker, who moved the audience with shocking facts on how wide-spread depression is in New Zealand. Timm’s evaluation of this speech was voted #1. As such, Timm will be competing again at Division level on Saturday, 16 April, 1 pm at the Papanui Baptist Church (144 Sawyers Arms Rd). Come along to watch the best speakers from all over Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson and the West Coast! There will be free workshops on communication and leadership skills starting at 10 am, and you shouldn’t miss out on these either.
Not enough, Daniel did a great job in chairing the International Speech Contest of the night. Besides facilitating the actual speech contest and award presentation, this role requires a great deal of preparation and many leadership skills. Daniel made the night entertaining and enjoyable for everyone, his contestants included.
