Sam selling U-CAN-SPEAK Toastmasters in Andy's sales training project

Endless Opportunities

A packed schedule, new guests and participation from everyone, made last night’s meeting a pleasure to attend! Two experienced speakers, Andy and Advait delivered prepared speeches from advanced manuals. Advait’s hilarious “after-dinner” speech, titled The Last Supper, was highly entertaining and full of unique observations and insights about Easter and its traditions. Andy’s sales training speech was informative and as always, Andy made sure to make his presentation interactive, so that everyone could be involved.

Tonight we also had the segment of “A day in history”. William took on this role confidently, choosing to discuss the 12th April, as it was more interesting than the 13th. His presentation was very clear and informative and it was very interesting to hear about the beginnings of the American Civil War in 1861.

Richard gave an enjoyable Table Topics session and it was great to see many guests giving this a go.

Since the theme of the meeting was leadership, Timm gave an excellent educational on leadership in which he tested our knowledge of the leadership projects from the Toastmaster’s Leadership Manual: critical thinking, listening, mentoring, time management, facilitation, giving feedback, motivation, team building, organization and delegation and planning and implementation. Timm’s presentation was extremely effective as he linked the leadership projects to the executive roles in our club. This is timely as the AGM is approaching, where we will elect the subsequent executive.

As Timm made clear, there are endless opportunities to exercise leadership skills and qualities at our U-CAN-SPEAK Toastmasters Club! Tonight was another example of this.

It’s so great to be a part of this club!
