CC award presentation at U-CAN-SPEAK Toastmasters Christchurch

Moving House and Moving Forward After the CC

Monday’s meeting had a lot of new faces and it was great to hear so many members bravely giving their first speech AKA the Ice Breaker!

The theme of the week was ‘moving house’; something almost all of the members have had past experiences with. We heard stories from moving out of home, to moving across the world! (All equally unpleasant in my opinion!)

Then the speeches begun. Peter started us off with some inspirational messages cleverly woven into an introduction to his life and interests. Tania left us all longing for some fresh air and the country life as she led us on a journey from ‘country bumpkin’ to a city-slicker engineer. Quite a change! Amongst other things, Andy addressed the biggest fear of some club members – exams! A very funny speech and winner of the rubber chicken for the week – well done Andy. Stephanie wrapped up the speeches for the evening and shared with us a little more of her life and some goals she is working towards.

The Table Topics Master for this week was Jon, who used talking cards as cues for short speeches, which had the club members sharing a bit about themselves.

Congratulations to Dwayne for his award for completing the Competent Communicators Manual – a fantastic achievement.
